Why Women’s Brain Health Initiative is bringing Brainable to schools

“It is easier to build strong children than to repair broken adults.”

~ F. Douglass.

Children are our future - we must nurture them, teach them, and lead by good and trusted example. Health in the earliest years, strengthens developing biological systems that enable children to thrive and grow up to be healthy adults. Many of the things we do as children have a huge impact on our health as adults.

Women’s Brain Health Initiative (WBHI) is a trusted resource for evidence-based information on the lifestyle choices necessary to keep your brain functioning properly. Science tells us that the earlier in life that you start to take care of your brain, the healthier you and your brain will be.

More on Brain Health

Brain Health is maintaining a clear and active mind.

The best way to prolong and strengthen our brain health, is to prevent or reduce the risk of harming it as we get older by making smart lifestyle choices. The choices that we make today, and every day, can either protect or harm how our brain functions when we are older.

What increases our risk? High blood pressure, high cholesterol, obesity, smoking, poor eating habits, and lack of exercise. What decreases our risk? Staying mentally, physically, and socially active, sleeping 7-8 hours every night, and managing our stress. The more positive things we do for our brain, the stronger the protective effect will be.
